You nailed the thing most people never see. Revenue is vanity, margin is sanity. Nobody prices in the stress. Complexity builds a machine that ends up owning you back.

Revenue being the most misleading number in business, versus what you actually keep, reframes a comparison I've made against bigger operations more times than I'd like to admit. Smaller and yours turns out to be a very different equation than smaller and someone else's.

The octopus with a dollar sign at the center says it all. Every arm is a revenue stream. The trick is feeding all of them without becoming the machine.

Starting the journey is the hard part. The first posts feel like shouting into a void. Keep going the mission is worth it.

Revenue is the flashy number. What you keep is the real scoreboard. Owning the smaller operation changes the whole math.
